OSP’s 15-years journey – From recklessness to boldness to create timeless values ​​(Part 1)

On June 18th, 2008, 4 Co-Founders laid the first bricks for OSP GROUP.

On June 18th, 2023, we are all here, witnessing an OSP as a leading business in providing IT services in Vietnam.

In the past 15 years, the path has not always been comfortable and successful, but in the end, OSP is proud of the values ​​created by the highest quality products and services.

Therefore, in this special Talk with us, let’s look back at OSP’s 15-years journey to learn more about the story of a business that started with recklessness and achieved success thanks to boldness.

2008 – 2009: A “reckless” start

Our journey began on June 18th, 2008. At this time, four colleagues who were also close friends: Mr. Le Quang Dung, Mr. Bui Doan Ngoc, Mr. Bui Thanh Hai and Mr. Nguyen Trong Hoan decided to join together in a new capacity: co-founders of OSP. Starting out as personnel with years of experience implementing projects for the Japanese market, OSP’s initial orientation was to become an outsourcing unit for foreign customers.

Back in 2008, this was probably not an “ideal” time to start a business when the economic crisis was negatively affecting the Vietnamese market. However, when realizing the potential from the difficult context, the founders of OSP made a decision that could be said to be quite reckless at that time.

During the period of 2008 – 2009, OSP successfully implemented many different projects with customers mainly from the rising sun land. This was an extremely important period in building a foundation and clearly defining the operation field suitable for OSP’s potential.

2010 – 2013: Changing to exist

The end of 2009 and the beginning of 2010 were considered a special milestone for OSP when we decided to try out a new field: researching and developing technology solutions for organizations and government agencies. The first product and also one of the greatest prides of OSP to this day is the UCHI Notary and Authentication Database Management Software.

In 2010 and 2011, UCHI was a big step forward in applying technology to the management of notarization and authentication activities when finally, notaries could easily look up the status of assets, thereby minimizing risks in the process of implementing professional work at the organization. Our first achievement was recorded in early 2011 when OSP successfully signed a contract with the Hanoi City Department of Justice.

With the relentless efforts of OSP members, we have successfully joined the digital transformation race and reaped the first awards such as Sao Khue Awards in 2011 and 2012. UCHI Software has gradually become a familiar system for Departments of Justice and organizations operating in the notarization and authentication field. Based on the initial successes with UCHI, OSP quickly grasped the needs of customers and continued to participate in developing products to support digital transformation activities. Prominent among them is UMI, the predecessor of today’s UMIO Electronic Office Software.

2014 – 2018: Seizing opportunities

With the spirit of constantly seeking opportunities to experience and develop, in the period of 2014 – 2018, OSP participated in a completely new field and was unexpectedly successful in providing value-added services (V.A.S). This was also the time when OSP GROUP formed a model consisting of two main operating units: Service Department and Project Department.

At this time, the OSP name was best known for Mizu Feng Shui – one of the services that brought back the highest revenue and profit for OSP at that time. In addition, a series of names such as Giam gia 247; Clipbox… also contributed to help OSP determine its long-term operating direction, which was to cooperate with telecommunications carriers in operating and providing telecommunications services.

During this period, we witnessed the birth and strong development of a series of services researched and deployed directly by OSP and network operators such as MobiFone (MBF), Viettel, including:

  • In 2015, OSP was honored to be selected by MobiFone to become the enterprise managing and operating the online sim number warehouse, also known as the Online Number Selection Service.
  • In 2017, OSP launched SPlus – a data application service on the entire huge subscriber base of Viettel network. Also in this year, OSP successfully signed a contract worth over one million dollars to provide technology solutions to one of the Top 3 largest network operators in Vietnam.
  • In 2018, OSP continues to be the data application service provider with MobiFone network.
2014 – 2018 was the period of building a solid foundation for OSP’s telecommunications service provision activities.

Regarding the Project Department, 2014 – 2018 continued witnessing new steps in OSP’s journey to conquer the IT market in Vietnam. With the opportunity to cooperate with state agencies, organizations and corporations, OSP has not only successfully implemented specialized solutions for customers but also successfully researched and built its own core products and services.

2019 – 2020: Accepting the challenge

After the decision to enter the telecommunications service field brought positive results, in 2019, the OSP Board of Directors continued to see the potential from the Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) wave. Thus, a new chapter at OSP GROUP proceeded when the Group officially joined the new race.

With the foundation of a technology company with more than a decade formatting and developing in Vietnam, OSP quickly grasped the core technology and conducted research and development of the Smart Telesale product – a solution to connect sellers with buyers through Telesale and SMS Branding in 2019. Smart Telesale also quickly convinced customers and experts when successfully conquering the Sao Khue Award in the same year.

In the following years, we continued to welcome the birth of names such as AIG – Targeted marketing solution based on AI and Big Data technology or EcoCRM – Comprehensive customer relationship management solution for businesses, supporting enterprises standardize business processes, sales management, customer data management, creating motivation to digitize businesses and boost revenue.

Meanwhile, the Project Department left its mark when successfully developing the Online Auction Management Software exclusively for the Property Auction Service Center of Da Nang City with a value that up to now is still considered the highest in the country for online auction management products. Along with the strong development of new products, the OSP team continued to bring UCHI to new provinces and cities and continued to maintain its leading position in the field of software supporting the management of notarization and authentication activities.

By the end of 2019, OSP successfully deployed the Online Auction Management Software for the Property Auction Service Center of Da Nang City, becoming the next product of the product/service ecosystem for the Judicial sector.

The above was perhaps just a brief summary of OSP’s journey from its establishment in 2008 to the period of 2019, 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic officially broke out on a large scale and caused unprecedented changes in life as well as production and business activities.
